As ordered by Liz
I was diligently searching for a job and stumbled across this.

"Videogamers,

At Bowen Research we regularly test new game software titles. We have a project in Manhattan for men, ages 17 to 34. It’ll take place at a research facility on Madison Avenue, will take two hours, 6-8 or 8-10 pm this Friday, July 18, pays $100 + pizza.

Sign up on our web site, www.bowenresearch (click on sign up in the upper right), and our recruiter, will call if you're right for this group. We'll also email you about future projects (you can unsubscribe anytime, just email me, hugh@bowenresearch.com).

Bowen Research tests home software for many of the major game publishers. Our web page, www.bowenresearch.com, also tells more about our company. We also do projects on web sites and mobile phones (sign up on our web site for those also).

Thanks for your help. My name is Hugh Bowen and I’m organizing and moderating the sessions, just call or email with any other questions.
Take care,

Hugh Bowen

The unfairness broke my heart a little. A lot. I want to be paid that much for eating pizza and playing videgames for two hours. Yet I can't. I've forwarded it to my brother, because hey, someone should benefit at least.

"Hugh Bowen and his firm, Bowen Research (www.bowenresearch.com), specialize in research for the young male market, with expertise in electronic entertainment and other high-tech products and services."

"Teen boys, young men respond positively to email campaigns
Email marketing can effectively help companies connect with young males, but the communication must be relevant to their needs, according to a study by Bowen Research."

"Due to the nature of Hugh's customers and prior marketing and development experience, over time he developed considerable expertise studying a particular demographic – boys to young men."

And a somewhat interesting read about emotions and videogames (I'm going to assume this was solely male as well).

Annnd the site gives you the option to sign up to be in surveys and stuff. It only says that it's directed at teens through young adults and doesn't mention gender.

Over from Liz's LJ, and that just leaves me STEAMING. Is the company looking to hook young men (the stereotypical demographic) on gaming because they're losing interest or something?

Nice of him to admit that he hates leaving his sausage fest comfort zone, though. Gaming is not really a field for the same old shit anymore, and the idea that you can separate demographics by "men and women" rather than genre and so forth says a lot about how... clueless people in the industry are.

That is full of evil. I mean, I understand market niches and whatnot, but bah. I mean, I realize gender inequality, but it sucks when companies are pointing it out and working with it instead of trying to fix it.
